Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2009
Brand: Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey
1er Cru Class‚ Sauternes Over the past five years, there has been a gradual but very noticeable change of style at Lafaurie-Peyraguey. Eric Larramona and his team have been aiming to make first-class Sauternes that is less 'four-square' and more refined and poised. Their 2009 is an undoubted success with a distinctive rich, green-gold hue and a luxuriant peach-fruit dominated nose. The palate is dominated by an exotic white fruit ripeness but which is off set by a citrus-lime freshness that lingers on and on. Very big and very much for the long-term in our view. 14% alc. and 139g/l residual sugar/ 4.6gl. total acidity . [Drink: 2019-2035] Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a very impressive, ornate chƒteau that is well worth a visit. The vineyard of 41 hectares is sited on the lower part of tthe Bommes plateau below its name-sake, Clos Haut-Peyraguey. The word Peyraguey means hill. The name Lafaurie derives from the fact that the estate was acquired by a Monsieur Lafaurie during the Revolution.Today it is owned and managed by Jean-Pierre Petroffe who prides himself on the meticulous care taken from vineyard, through several stages of harvesting to the cellar.
