100% Alfrocheiro, Boavista Vineyard Afrocheiro is a unique Portuguese grape variety with quite small bunches and berries reminiscent of Pinot Noir. This delicious example shows ripe notes of dark cherry and spice on the nose; on the palate, bright cherry and red stone fruits with great acidity, silky, rich tannins and a long, spicy finish. The Terra d'Alter estate is situated in Portugal's most southern wine region, where dynamic Aussie winemaker, Peter Bright has been making wine since 1982. Low yielding vineyard, handpicked fruit. Crushing followed by 2 day cold maceration in small stainless steel tanks with 20% whole bunches, fermentation at 20§C to 29§C. Post-fermentation maceration for 3 days then drained/pressed straight to new/1 use oak barrels followed by m/l fermentation and 8 months maturation.
