Pinot Noir Reserva 2019 Casas del Bosque
Brand: Casas del Bosque
DO Casablanca Very fruity on the nose with red fruits in the lead role. This also has a pleasant earthy note. Fruit forward with a touch of black cherry and strawberry flavours. Some earthy nuttiness adds a very nice complexity, particularly on the lengthy finish. (2019 - 14% abv) Casas del Bosque is one of Chile's top wineries and we are delighted to be importing a wide range of these excellent wines. Created in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari, the son of an Italian immigrant, this 245 hectare estate in nearly all situated in the premium wine region of Casablanca (although there are 13 ha. of old vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere in Rapel). The temperatures in the Casablanca Valley (situated just beyond the coastal mountain range) are amongst some of the coolest in viticultural Chile and it is not surprising that varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir do so well. The brilliant New Zealander, Grant Phelps, is in charge of wine-making and his philosophy is based upon using as little new oak as possible and where it is used, it is there to improve a wine's texture. The Riserva Sauvignon Blanc sees no oak but undergoes long, pre-fermentation skin contact, to help develop a wonderful aromatic complexity. The other Riservas and Gran Riservas see a judicious 'amount of oak-barrel ageing but it is the terroir and varietal fruit that are allowed to dominate in the final assemblage. These are amazingly pure and concentrated wines that reveal Chile's (and particularly Casablanca's) true potential. Burgundy and Champagne were the only games in town until California and Oregon got in the act, followed by Tasmania and others. Now, it is Chile's turn. Casas del Bosque has fashioned a riveting Pinot in their Reserva Pinot Noir from Casablanca Valley. Medium to full-bodied, this Pinot offers a savory nose along with plenty of juicy cherry and raspberry flavors, beautiful spice tones, fine texture, and ripe tannins. Youthful, exuberant and full of varietal flavor, it is easy to see why it has received numerous 90+ ratings, including 92 Points from James Suckling. Enjoy this delicious world-class Pinot Noir at cool room temperature (60ø-64ø F) after a few minutes of aeration. Food Pairings Consider pairing the Casas del Bosque Reserva Pinot Noir with poultry, beef, lamb, pastas, cheeses, grilled vegetables, and even Ahi tuna. Lamb tenderloin served with Pinot Noir au jus offers an incomparable partner to this wine. Roast turkey with all of the trimmings provides another splendid accompaniment. Duck confit, herb encrusted pork tenderloins, smoked meats, and all kinds of charcuterie make excellent pairings, too. Poppy seed crusted Ahi tuna served with soba noodle salad and a lobster chipotle sauce creates more...
