Eugenio Bustos was established in 1890, after Eugenio Bustos purchased some land in Valle de Uco as it was named by the Haurpe Indians (Uco Valley in English) , in Mendoza, and began to build the winery. His daughter, Celia Bustos, inherited the estate and thanks to her leadership, the land was turned into a profitable vineyard. The town of Eugenio Bustos as the immediate area is now known, is a very old traditional town at the base of the Andes. Being slightly higher, at 1200 metres, than the rest of Mendoza and closer to the Andes the temperatures are slightly more moderate which gives the wines more subtle characteristics than other areas of Mendoza. It also means that excellent quality whites can be produced here, which is not he case in all of Mendoza. More recently years the winery has been extended, restored, and equipped with French and Italian state-of-the-art technology.
